Learn how to grow dahlias with flower farmer Vivian Larson in Snohomish Washington - flower farmer growing workshop

Dahlias are one of the most beloved cut flowers to grow here in Washington State. Florists, flower farmers, home gardeners and flower enthusiasts of all levels are captivated by this colorful, happy, beautiful bloom.

Would you like to know more about growing dahlias at your flower farm or in your personal cutting garden?

Vivian Larson is a seasoned flower grower here in Washington state and her gorgeous flower farm is located in Stanwood, Wa. Vivian is a founding member of Seattle Wholesale Growers Market, where area florists gravitate towards her beautiful and trusty blooms. 

We are pleased to have Vivian leading a lecture on growing dahlias at our Fleurs Creative studio, this special class is open to all levels of dahlia growers from farmers to home gardeners. Vivian wants you to be successful with your dahlia growing endeavors, so please do bring your questions and concerns so she can help you with her sage advice!

Vivian will also have dahlia tubers available to purchase. Everyone who registers for the lecture will have early access to shopping the dahlia tuber selection! The dahlia tuber sale opens to the public  at 11:30am.

TIMELINE:

** Must be pre-registered to attend the 9-10am early bird shopping and the 10-11am Lecture. **

9-10am – Early bird Dahlia Tuber shopping!

Those who have registered for the Dahlia Growing Lecture with Vivian get early access to shopping Vivian’s Dahlia Tubers!!

10am – 11am – Vivian’s lecture on best practices for Growing Dahlias. Followed by a Q&A session.

  • Introduction to our instructor, Vivian, and hear a bit about her growing background.
  • Dahlia Tubers –  where it starts and what to look for when examining tubers.
  • When to plant tubers, timing of weather conditions, prepping soils, fertilizer, and watering plans.
  • Possible problems to be aware of including weather issues, pest issues, and the big one everyone seems to fixate on — viruses.
  • Cutting, post harvest care, and best varieties for bouquets
  • Tuber harvest and care at the end of the season as the tubers are prepared to rest for the winter.
  • Please bring your questions! Vivian wants to help you be successful in your endeavors to grow Dahlias!

11:30am — Doors open to the public! Come and shop Vivian’s Dahlia Tubers.
